Material used

Despite the proliferation of man-made materials, leather is still the best and most widely used material for uppers. The choices provided by leather alone can be quite astounding. There are currently over 50 different commercially available varieties to choose from, most of which can be had in a variety of colours. Skins can also be individually commissioned to match a client's exact preferences. Apart from leather there are also some natural fibres like felt and canvas that can be successfully used.

The choice of material widens considerably for women's shoes. These include a far wider range of natural fibres, the use of synthetic materials like fake leopard, etc., through to the surface of the shoe being printed or painted.

Through the creative usage of materials, a common shoe design can be made to transcend the ordinary.
